The fire services of the professional fire brigades of Übigau and Löbtau and the volunteer fire brigade of Ockerwitz finally managed to control the fire with various nozzles. A water pipe burst from the heat, which meant firefighters had to pump out the basement.

The apartment completely burned down and is now uninhabitable. Other apartments in the prefabricated building should no longer be habitable.

40 people were saved. At least ten residents were hospitalized on suspicion of smoke inhalation.

Among the injured are three children aged five and nine.

A specially trained crisis intervention team took care of the evacuees. The cause of the devastating fire is not yet clear.

the policeman assumes serious arson and has started an investigation. Material damage was initially estimated at around 500,000 euros.
