As new corona infections have spiraled out of control in France, President Macron has re-imposed a health emergency on the country. He announced curfews for Paris and other cities.

The infection rate has changed significantly since the beginning of the pandemic. The second wave of infections is different from the first because it is spreading across the country, Macron said. That is why there will be night curfews in many cities starting on Saturday. In addition to the Paris metropolitan area, the metropolises of Grenoble, Lille, Rouen, Lyon, Aix-Marseille, Saint-Étienne, Toulouse and Montpellier are affected, the French president said.

The exit bans are initially applied for four weeks daily from 9 pm to 6 am The lock applies to cinemas, restaurants and theaters, among other things. The visit of friends is also not allowed during this time. The head of state announced that there will be controls and sanctions. Consequently, an offense threatens a fine of 135 euros.
Even at family gatherings, no more than six people should be seated at a table, according to Macron. There will be no travel restrictions within France.
The goal is to keep economic life alive; aid to businesses will continue. “We will continue working,” emphasized Macron. Macron also assured French citizens that they had the situation under control. “We have not lost control.”
