The Kiel parliament has been discussing the new Corona resolutions since 10 am. These are the strictest measures that should be applied in Schleswig-Holstein from 11 January.

Prime Minister Daniel Günther (CDU) made a government statement in the state parliament in the morning on the latest federal-state resolutions on the crown crisis. Parliament had convened a special session on the issue to discuss the partially toughened measures that will be applied from next week. In the future, members of a household will only be able to meet with one other person, that is, no longer with two partners, for example. “It is a serious situation, the situation in hospitals is also becoming more dramatic,” said Günther. According to the government, the number of corona deaths in Schleswig-Holstein has almost doubled since December 1. Günther’s clear appeal: “If possible, don’t meet with anyone for the next three weeks!”

The incidence value has to go down

“We have to fear that the numbers will increase in the next few days,” Günther said. “This is a tragedy for the family members, but it is also a tragedy for all of us.” For this reason, Schleswig-Holstein is almost obliged to follow a strict path. The goal is a national incidence value below 50. “If we don’t follow up now, there is no way we will be below 50 by the end of the month.” The virus is ruthless, but also predictable. With strict discipline, the numbers may be cut in half again week after week.

Thank you all for the resistance.

The prime minister thanked everyone for facing the difficulties. It is particularly difficult for families. “It will be a really difficult process until Easter.” But perhaps, in hindsight, parents could be “a little proud” that, with their discipline and perseverance, they gave many more wonderful years of life to many people.

Vaccination: informational letters sent

Günther also spoke about vaccines. Those who have not yet had a vaccination appointment should not be afraid. He also announced that he would send information letters to all households to explain the route to vaccination. The Social Democrats want to ensure that the allocation of vaccination appointments is regulated differently. They are currently available via the Internet and by phone, but they are booked very quickly. The SPD now proposes to specifically invite people with the right to vaccines. Schleswig-Holstein residents currently need to register for vaccination appointments online or by calling 116117. On Tuesday, the 15,000 appointments for the first or second vaccination were according to the Ministry of Health. awarded in 24 minutes.

Schools, kindergartens, shops – everything remains closed

The country wants to exempt two groups from strict contact restrictions. This affects children under the age of 15 who are cared for by relatives and cared for by relatives in need, said Minister of Social Affairs Heiner Garg (FDP). The concrete implementation of individual points, such as movement restrictions at the critical crown points, has yet to be clarified. Furthermore, schools and daycare centers will be closed for the most part, as will restaurants, most shops and leisure facilities, until the end of the month.

The criticism comes from the economy

The Schleswig-Holstein economy would have liked more sense of proportion with the Corona resolutions. Already now, nearly two-thirds of downtown retailers see themselves in danger of existence, the Northern Retail Association warns. Many retailers in the country would have liked the lockdown to be relaxed sooner. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) is calling for retail to be reopened step by step, despite the closure. “We hope this is approached with a sense of proportion, because the retail sector has not yet proven to be a critical point for the spread of the virus.”

The new state regulation goes into effect Monday.

Over the weekend, the Kiel cabinet wants to pass a new state regulation with the new crown measures. It should go into effect on Monday.
