Following the Saturday morning shooting in Kreuzberg, arrest warrants were issued for two men involved Sunday night. The prosecutor announced.

According to the current status of the investigation, a 30-year-old man with an Italian family history is said to have shot three known men from the Berlin underworld and from around the clan and seriously wounded them.

On Monday, Berlin Interior Senator Andreas Geisel (SPD) told RBB Abendschau that the background to the shooting was allegedly a round of poker. There is more to show in the investigation, so Geisel.

The shooting broke out at four o’clock on Saturday in Stresemannstrasse, not far from the SPD party headquarters. According to the prosecutor, the background and motive for the attack are still unclear. At the request of the Public Ministry, an arrest warrant was issued against the 30-year-old for attempted murder in three cases. An arrest warrant was also issued against one of the victims, but for illegal possession and possession of a firearm.

This is Veysel K., 39 years old. According to information from Tagesspiegel, one of the clan chief’s brothers Arafat Abou-Chaker and Abbas Ch are also involved. “Bild” reported for the first time about it.

Both suspects are still in the hospital due to their injuries. Before that, the Berlin prosecutor’s office had only talked about the “usual suspects” and the “milieu of organized crime”.

Veysel K. in particular is known for his role as an enforcer for members of the criminal clan. He was once a close companion of the chief of the Arafat clan, who is currently on trial, and the rapper Bushido.

K had only been sentenced to two years and nine months in prison in September, but the district court ordered that he remain in pre-trial detention. At first he was free.

Veysel K. has been tested multiple times

In November 2019, according to the court in front of the “Café Einstein” on Budapester Strasse in Charlottenburg, K. fired a pistol seven times into the air, no one was injured. The background, such as a possible dispute in advance, was not clear in the process.

When he was arrested in February 2020, he was carrying cocaine with him, although he had been under supervision since 2017 after serving a prison sentence. Before that, he had controlled the drug trade from inside the cell himself behind bars and was the head of a smuggling gang.

Residents had alerted police at 4 a.m. Saturday to the shooting. At a front door on Stresemannstrasse, the police initially found three wounded, Brother Abou Chaker, K. and Ch.

Later, emergency services found the 30-year-old Italian who had jumped into the Landwehr canal while trying to escape. According to the prosecutor, the evidence is not bad, they are investigating attempted murder.

In that case, an apartment on Stresemannstrasse also plays a role. A special task force arrived on Saturday after the shooting and searched the apartment that had apparently been used for illegal gambling. Officials seized several items from the home.

The rescuers removed a box, a suitcase and several bags from the apartment. The other two men, for whom no arrest warrant has been issued, are 30 and 42 years old.
