Italy will once again suffer a severe blockade from December 21 to January 6. That’s what Prime Minister Conte said. Shops, bars and restaurants must remain closed in the fight against the rapid increase in population.

In view of the rapid increase in crown numbers, the Italian government is imposing another strict blockade for the entire country. This will apply from December 21 to January 6, Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte announced overnight.

According to him, all shops that are not necessary for daily needs and all restaurants remain closed, travel between different regions is prohibited and you are only allowed to leave your home to a limited extent.

The house can only be left in some exceptions.

Conte spoke after a cabinet meeting where the new rules were decided. According to this, all households should leave the apartment only once a day. Travel to another region is prohibited, this also applies to second homes. De facto exceptions to the rules should only be possible for professional or health reasons. Religious celebrations are allowed until 10 pm

However, the strict lockdown on December 28-30 and January 4 will be relaxed a bit. Then the stores should be able to open briefly and move around without giving reasons.

Italy was the first European country to be hit in full force by the pandemic in the spring; hospitals could no longer treat all patients. With tight lockdown, the first corona wave could finally be controlled. Meanwhile, Italy and its European neighbors are struggling with a dramatic second wave.
