The prosecution has expanded its accusations against a man who is said to be a prominent member of an alleged sect in North Rhine-Westphalia. The 58-year-old man was charged with abusing a child in 10 cases in the Netherlands between 2006 and 2008, a spokesman for the Kleve prosecution said.

Furthermore, the Dutchman is suspected of committing two rapes in Goch in 2019. He is now detained.

The man was arrested Wednesday during a major operation in Goch. The police had come across an alleged sect at the site of a former monastery.

It is said that a 25-year-old girl was held there against her will. According to the police, she was released and saved. Therefore, the suspect is also charged with deprivation of liberty.

Apparently locked up for over a week

The Dutchman is said to have “locked the 25-year-old in prison or deprived her of her liberty” for more than a week, the prosecutor’s spokesman in Kleve said. Since then she has been questioned, as have numerous witnesses.

Additionally, the man is charged with bodily injury. The victim is said to be a member of the community found in Goch.

“You can also say: a sect”

According to the investigating authority, it is said that an event company with several event rooms “established a religious community, it can also be said: a sect.”

Based on initial findings, this is probably the controversial “Order of Transformants” association. “Orde” is Dutch and means order.

Police proceeded “with extreme caution” during the operation, the prosecutor said. Also because there were references to children beforehand.

It was not initially clear if the people found belong to the “order” and can remain on the property. According to the prosecutor, the investigation is only directed against the 58-year-old man. Officers found a total of 54 people at the site, including 10 children.
