After two jump shots, the German team had to tremble for a place on the podium. But then came Markus Eisenbichler. With a sensational reach, he took DSV to number one, but held on to his knee.

German ski jumpers won the last team world cup of the season. In Planica, Slovenia, the quartet won ahead of teams from Japan and Austria. Fourth place went to host Slovenia. Markus Eisenbichler, who jumped 235.5 meters, stood out among DSV’s eagles. For cancellation of jump on Saturday the competition was carried out with a single round.

“Eisei” led the team around Karl Geiger, Pius Paschke and Constantin Schmid, who won by a margin of 9.5 points. But despite the victory, national coach Stefan Horngacher had some worry lines on his forehead after the competition.

Because during his sensational jump, Markus Eisenbichler had slight problems landing. The 29-year-old grabbed his knee and then limped. “I noticed a sting, but after 15 minutes of movement it was back,” he said after jumping up.

Eisenbichler is suffering from an internal ligament tear and had long considered whether to travel to Planica.
