As reported on Saturday by the “Bild” newspaper, among others, it is said to have involved the repatriation of three women and their children and several orphans from Kurdish camps.

The SWR spoke of a total of 15 Germans with a suspected IS history who were handed over to a delegation from the Foreign Ministry on Saturday in the northern Syrian city of Kamishli. These are the three women mentioned and their children. According to “Bild”, the Foreign Ministry is said to have rented a machine for the return operation, and federal police officers are said to have accompanied the flight.

According to SWR, the operation had been prepared months ago. Kurdish self-governing authorities have had a corresponding list of names for a long time, he said.

The Foreign Ministry declined to comment on the process on Saturday at the request of the German Press Agency. There was also no information on whether the return campaign was the first of its kind.
