Germans will soon only be able to travel to Denmark for good reason: holidays are not included. However, for SH, an exemption is likely to continue to apply.

The growing number of corona infections in Germany is the reason why Danish authorities may plan to restrict border traffic. Every Thursday, they re-evaluate the travel recommendations and entry regulations based on the current infection rate. According to a spokesman, the Danish Foreign Ministry wants to say today whether Germany will be declared a risk zone.

Special regulation for Schleswig-Holstein

Borders with Denmark were last closed for several weeks in March. In Denmark, a country is declared quarantined if, on average, there have been more than 30 new infections per week per 100,000 inhabitants for two weeks. This value has already been exceeded in Germany. If Germany is really classified as a risk zone by the Danish side, German citizens can only enter with “good reasons”. This includes daily trips to work, business trips, or visits with family members. Holidays are not included.

According to information from NDR Schleswig-Holstein, it is already clear: the special regulation for Schleswig-Holsteiners, decided by the Danish government in mid-June, continues to apply. That means that the inhabitants of Schleswig-Holstein can travel to Denmark without a valid reason, even for a vacation.
