Gas leak at Rosenthaler Platz – three houses evacuated, traffic disrupted – BZ Berlin

On Saturday night, a gas leak on Brunnenstrasse caused a stir. The street had to be closed completely, the subway interrupted.

Large-scale operation for firefighters and police. In the evening, around 7 pm, a gas leak was discovered on Brunnenstrasse. A low pressure pipe had burst under the sidewalk. The street between Rosenthaler Platz and Invalidenstraße was completely blocked, also for pedestrians.

15 residents of three houses were evacuated as a precautionary measure and were initially housed in a BVG bus. The sidewalk must first be dug to get to the line for a repair.

The subway line u8 was interrupted between Bernauer Straße and Weinmeisterstraße, buses and trams also do not run on Rosenthaler Platz.

The fire brigade is on duty with 30 officers, ensuring the escape. Repair work will likely continue until at least midnight.
