Further loosening of the crown in Rhineland-Palatinate from the end of May

The blockade caused by the crown pandemic will be further reduced in Rhineland-Palatinate. Under strict conditions, fitness studios, among others, may reopen in late May.

Starting on May 27 there will be more relaxation in Rhineland-Palatinate. Prime Minister Malu Dreyer (SPD) and other members of the state government presented an extensive catalog.

Prime Minister Dreyer on relaxing leisure time

Prime Minister Malu Dreyer (SPD) presented the timetable for a four-phase model of how further relaxation should be implemented in Rhineland-Palatinate.

Gyms and outdoor swimming pools will open from May 27.

Starting May 27, fitness studios and outdoor pools, among other things, may be opened under certain hygienic conditions, Dreyer announced. This also applies to other sports in indoor facilities such as dance schools. Indoor pools and saunas will follow on June 10.

Theaters, cabaret and concert halls can also reopen under certain conditions from the end of May. However, according to Dreyer, there still have to be federal-level agreements in some areas. Therefore, the choir’s performances are still unclear.

Outdoor flea markets will be allowed again from May 27, indoor lounges from June 10. Amusement parks and indoor zoo areas are also open to visitors from June 10. Trade shows can also take place again.

Clubs remain closed, private celebrations only remotely

However, the discotheques remain closed, as the risk of infection in closed rooms is still too high.

The state government explicitly does not want to regulate private celebrations. “It seems inappropriate and possible for the police to go to private parties,” said the prime minister. The rules for public space must also be followed in the private sphere.

Nursery schools: regular operation restricted from early June

According to Dreyer, the restricted daily operation is planned for nurseries from the beginning of June. The Ministry of Education will present guidelines for this after discussions with child care providers on Wednesday of next week (May 20).

Dreyer also encouraged parents to take advantage of the extended offer of emergency care to better reconcile work and family life. But also children “who can’t take it anymore” who can’t see their friends for so long are invited to return to kindergarten.

Wissing: regulations for gastronomy not negotiable

From Wednesday allowed Catering companies in Rhineland-Palatinate again serve guests under strict conditions. Economy Minister Volker Wissing (FDP) noted that regulation of the country’s crown is binding. “The regulations are not negotiable with the local regulatory authorities.”

New test concept introduced

Health Minister Sabine Bätzing-Lichenthäler (SPD) also presented a new test concept for containment of the coronavirus. Population wide randomized tests to detect an infection are not desirable because, due to the low and stable number of new infections, almost all tests are currently negative.

According to Bätzing-Lichtenthäler, the country is based on “event-related population tests”. Consequently, they start where a first case occurs. With a new coronavirus infection, the entire environment of the affected person is tested, even if these people show no symptoms.

The stable development of infection numbers is good news, Dreyer said. Until now, hospitals have never reached their limits. But that does not mean that the corona virus has disappeared. 6,200 tests are currently carried out in the Rhineland-Palatinate every day.
