According to Lower Saxony Prime Minister Stephan Weil (SPD), a partial lockdown is the only way to break the dynamics of corona infections. These are the new rules.
In essence, it is about limiting personal contacts as much as possible, whether at home or away. Many crown outbreaks can be traced back to private life, but for many the source is also unclear, Weil said in a government statement Friday. That is why such extensive restrictions are necessary. “We do not do this to restrict freedom, we also do it to protect freedom.” If consistent action is not taken against the growing number of cases, there is a risk of cuts as in other European countries.
These rules apply from Monday
- Drastic limitation of Contacts – Private meetings are only possible with up to ten people from two households.
- Exceptions to this: It’s a matter of close relatives or to Children up to twelve years. According to the state government, this means, for example, that around two adult children who already live in their own apartment can meet at their parents’ home, although this small group comes from more than two households. And it also means that children under the age of twelve can, for example, three or four of them play together in the afternoon after school with one of the children at home or in their own garden.

The country is still below the national average for infections
The country’s updated ordinance will initially apply until the end of November. “We are now in a crucial phase in our fight against this virus,” said the Prime Minister. The development of the last weeks has exceeded all expectations. With around a third fewer corona cases than the national average, Lower Saxony is doing relatively well so far. “With an incidence value of almost 80, we are also part of this infection dynamic,” Weil continued.
