In Swabia, a hunter killed a domestic cat with three pistol shots to the head. You probably found the animal in a live trap in the Augsburg area in December last year. Apparently the incident was filmed. The “Soko Tierschutz” association posted the video it found under the title “Cruel killing of cat by hunter” on the Internet. It shows “scenes that have never been documented, but that probably represent the fate of many domestic cats that have disappeared,” the association announced on its website.
Consequently, the hunter found it “hard” that the cat was still alive after three shots from a few inches away. “This hunter immediately owns the gun and his hunting license is taken away,” demanded Friedrich Mülln, a spokesman for the association. On Sunday, the Bavarian Hunting Association also expressed their outrage: “What can be seen in the video is not compatible with animal welfare, it is not appropriate and therefore it is not acceptable to us.”
