Mexico’s Sergio Pérez is cleaning his cockpit at Racing Point at the end of the year and should therefore open up the only realistic outing the four-time world champion has left beyond the end of the season. Since Vettel’s retirement from Ferrari at the end of the season, there has been speculation and speculation about the future of the 33-year-old.
“It’s completely normal for me to think a lot,” Vettel said on the sidelines of Ferrari’s 999th Grand Prix last weekend at Monza and asked for patience. Ahead of Ferrari’s 1000th Formula 1 race this weekend at Mugello, things are moving. Racing Point team boss Otmar Szafnauer had already said about the Heppenheimer at the end of July: “How can you not be interested in a four-time champion?”

We had a fantastic time together.” After seven years, Pérez leaves Racing Point, which was previously called Force India and will be the official Aston Martin team from 2021. “Everything in life always has a beginning and an end,” the Mexican wrote on social media. Many doors are closed for Vettel
It had long been assumed that the 30-year-old would have to leave the racing team to make room for a driver with a big name next year: Vettel. Aston Martin wants to attack in 2021 and needs a superior man among the drivers. That may be Vettel. After joining Formula 1 at BMW-Sauber in 2007, he ended up at Ferrari via Toro Rosso and Red Bull. At the Scuderia, however, he has not been able to build on the successes at Red Bull since 2015. But Vettel does not want to be left behind in Formula 1, he had recently emphasized. At Aston Martin, unlike poor Ferrari, he could compete for the top spots this year in 2021.
Following Pérez’s departure, only Lance Stroll remains on the Aston Martin factory team, which will continue to work with Mercedes and is supplied by the German automaker. The 21-year-old is the son of co-owner Lawrence Stroll, a Canadian billionaire, and recently came in third place at Monza. Pérez says he doesn’t have a “plan B” for next season. The reliable Mexican has long been negotiated as a candidate at Haas and Alfa Romeo.
