Steinmeier particularly referred to the consideration of those who are particularly at risk, those who are already ill, doctors and nurses. The latter fought the virus “to exhaustion” and using their own health. “We are a strong country because many people are there for each other in this difficult crisis and can overcome themselves,” Steinmeier said. Children, teens, and their parents depend on keeping the pandemic under control.
Looking ahead to Christmas, Steinmeier said: “The celebrations can be recovered, friends and family will be happy to receive gifts later.” Now it is about maintaining health and saving lives.
At the same time, Steinmeier expressed his confidence: “The loads we will bear for a few more months are not in vain. They bring us closer to the end of the pandemic ”. This contributes to the fact that treatment methods are now more sophisticated than a few months ago. He also referred to scheduled vaccinations: according to this, the first vaccines will be approved in Germany in December and the first immunizations will take place in January. Hundreds of vaccination centers have already been established, Steinmeier said.
