RKI records 267 new deaths from corona
Almost 1000 new infections less than a week ago, at the same time a sharp increase in deaths: Despite a slight decrease in the infection rate, the latest data from the Robert Koch Institute is alarming. The daily increase in deaths reached the fourth highest value since the start of the pandemic.
The level of new infections is weakening slightly, the number of deaths is growing strongly at the same time: German health authorities have reported 14,419 new corona infections to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) in 24 hours. This is evident in the most recent RKI information (as of November 17 at 12 am). Consequently, the number of infections recently recorded by the RKI is almost 1000 cases below the previous week’s level of 15,332.
However, the new data from the RKI is alarming: despite the slight decrease in the infection rate, the number of recently reported deaths is increasing dramatically. As can be seen from the information, 267 new deaths were reported to the RKI nationwide in relation to a corona infection. This is the fourth strongest daily increase the RKI has recorded since the start of the pandemic. The highest value so far was recorded on April 16. Last Tuesday 154 new deaths were reported to the RKI. According to the latest RKI data, the total number of deaths has risen to 12,814.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, at least 815,746 people in Germany have been shown to have been infected with the Sars-CoV-2 virus. According to the RKI, there are now around 530,200 people who have survived Covid 19 disease. However, the RKI notes that these are only official estimates: “Data on whether a patient has recovered is not officially collected,” it says. .
Note: The RKI figures generally differ slightly from the case data that ntv.de reports daily at night.
