The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) typically announces the lowest numbers for the week on Sundays and Mondays, because German health authorities report significantly fewer cases on weekends. According to the RKI, this Sunday there are 2,279 new infections. Four out of seven hot spots are in Berlin!

That’s an increase of more than 60 percent compared to Sunday a week ago, when the RKI reported 1,410 new infections in 24 hours!

Since the beginning of the Corona crisis, at least 299,237 people in Germany have been shown to have been infected with the Sars-CoV-2 virus (data as of October 4, 12:00 am). According to the RKI, the number of deaths related to a corona infection is 9529. Two more deaths have been reported since the previous day.

The number of views, or the R-value for short, was 1.10 based on RKI estimates in Germany based on the management report on Saturday (previous day: 0.97). This means that one infected person infects slightly more than one other person on average. The R value represents the infection rate approximately one and a half weeks earlier.

Additionally, the RKI gives a seven-day R on its current status report. The value refers to a longer period and is therefore less subject to daily fluctuations. According to RKI estimates, this value was 1.13 on Friday (previous day: 1.08). It shows the infection process for eight to 16 days.

261,900 people are considered to have recovered (about 1,100 more than the previous day), and a total of 299,237 people have tested positive since the start of the pandemic. Media: There are currently around 27,800 active cases in Germany.

Four of seven hot spots in Berlin

According to the Robert Koch Institute, in several places in Germany the specified limit of 50 infections per 100,000 inhabitants is exceeded in seven days.

► District Free City of Hamm (North Rhine-Westphalia): new infections in seven days per 100,000 inhabitants are 99.4 and thus still well above the infection rate in other cities.
► Remscheid (NRW): Here the weekly incidence value is 58.6.
► In the district of Vechta (Lower Saxony) the value is 50.1.

According to the management report of the health administration on Saturday, there are now four districts in Berlin!

► I am Berlin Mitte district the value of 7 days is 61.7.
► In Berlin-Neukölln the value is 56.7.
► In Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg the value is 59.2.
► In Tempelhof-Schöneberg the value is 51.9 (RKI currently names 49.2 as the 7-day occurrence value for the district. This may be due to delay in transmission and reporting).

According to the Senate Department on Saturday, 203 new cases were reported for Berlin. Neukölln, Pankow and Treptow-Köpenick districts did not report any new infections or did not transmit figures.
