The R infection rate increases for the third day in a row – for the first time in several weeks, it is again above the critical limit. On average, each currently infected person is infected more than another person. At the same time, three counties exceed the defined infection limit.
In Germany, the R reproduction rate has increased to more than 1 for the first time in more than three weeks. The infection rate was highest on April 13. The day before it was still 0.83. The key figure indicates how many other people are infected on average at any given time. However, it should be noted that this is an estimate that is subject to a certain degree of uncertainty.
According to ntv.de calculations, according to information provided by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) and the country, the number of people currently acutely infected is 21,361, which is 618 fewer than the previous day (21,979). The total number of infected people increased from 1,053 to 169,416. Currently, 140,620 people in Germany are considered to have recovered. At the same time as those who have recovered, the number of deaths continues to rise. It is currently at 7435, 84 more than the day before. Due to statistical fluctuations, which are reinforced by lower numbers overall, it cannot be assessed whether the downward trend of new infections has continued in recent weeks or whether the number of cases has increased again. Due to the increase in the estimated R value, the development in the coming days must be observed with great care.
According to an RKI overview, the vast majority of counties in Germany are currently well below the upper limit set by the federal and state governments for new crown infections. So far, three districts in which this limit is exceeded are known: Greiz in Thuringia, Coesfeld in North Rhine-Westphalia and Steinburg in Schleswig-Holstein.
On Wednesday, the federal and state governments agreed to a significant relaxation of the crown requirements, but at the same time decided that a consistent restriction concept would be implemented immediately if more than 50 new infections per 100,000 population were registered within a week in rural or urban districts. According to the RKI, about 10 other districts currently have more than 25 new infections for every 100,000 inhabitants and week. The other circles are below, some no longer reporting any new infections. However, the RKI notes that, among other things, a delay in data transfers can lead to discrepancies between your information and the actual local numbers.
Protests against the crown rules.
Meanwhile, thousands of people in various German cities have protested against restrictions to contain the crown pandemic. Several thousand people were at the Cannstatter Wasen in Stuttgart. A police spokesman said it was quite full. He did not give an exact number of participants. In Berlin, police arrested around 30 people for failing to comply with crown containment regulations during a demonstration in front of the Reichstag building. Despite the announcements through loudspeakers, the minimum distance had not been observed.
Several hundred people also gathered at Alexanderplatz for an undeclared meeting. In Berlin, only meetings with up to 50 participants are allowed in a fixed location. At the Marienplatz in Munich, some 3,000 people demonstrated against the strict infection protection regulations. The demonstration had been recorded, but only for 80 participants, a police spokesman said.
