The price and release date of the PlayStation 5 in Germany are finally fixed: After long weeks and months of rumors and speculation, Sony let the cat out of the bag during the PS5 event:
- PS5 – Release-Termin: 19. November 2020
- PS5 – Drive Edition Price: 499 euros
- PS5 – Digital Edition Price: 399 euros
In Japan and the US, among others, the PS5 will appear earlier: on November 12.

PS5 Digital Edition vs Drive Edition: these are the differences
PlayStation 5 – Drive Edition:
You can only play disc games with the “normal” PS5, as only this model has a required drive for this. Unlike the digital edition, the case is slightly thicker.
PlayStation 5 – Digital Edition:
With the slimmer digital edition, you cannot use discs because the drive is missing. Here it is completely dependent on digital downloads from the PS Store and thus a (fast) internet connection. This restriction doesn’t just affect games. Logically, you won’t be able to play 4K Blu-rays with the Digital Edition either. In return, the model, of course, is available at a lower price.
