50,000 people were registered, but in fact only a few thousand protesters are taking part in the Düsseldorf rally against the crown state measures. Due to the protection ordinance, protesters can dispense with their masks.

Accompanied by a heavy police presence, several thousand people in Düsseldorf participated in a demonstration against the state measures of the crown. The downtown demonstration was recorded by a regional group of the lateral thinking initiative. The organizer spoke from 5000 to 6000 participants.

As the demo moved through the city center, there were a few small fights on the road. However, the police spoke of a generally peaceful course. The participants also kept the minimum distance of 1.5 meters. According to the North Rhine-Westphalia Crown Protection Ordinance, they did not have to wear a mask during the demonstration.

Some participants carried rainbow flags with them, held up anti-digitization signs, or called for hugs instead of distance on signs. The applicants had registered almost 50,000 participants in advance, the police had prepared for up to 10,000 people.

A few hundred people took part in a counter-demonstration of the “Düsseldorf turns around” initiative. Among them were the mayor of the SPD of Düsseldorf, Thomas Geisel, and his rival in the second round of elections for the chief executive in the town hall on Sunday, Stephan Keller of the CDU.
