The man in command of the Federal Criminal Police is a first-degree contact person. Steinmeier has now undergone a crown test, but the first result is not yet available, the spokeswoman said Saturday afternoon.

In late March, Chancellor Angela Merkel had also been quarantined at her home for almost two weeks as a precautionary measure because she had had contact with an infected doctor. During this time, they did three corona tests, but they all came back negative.

The federal president really wanted to present the German Book Trade Peace Prize at the Paulskirche in Frankfurt this Sunday at the end of the Frankfurt Book Fair.
