Meck-Pomm opens hotels for Christmas guests

After several other federal states, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has also decided that hotels can offer overnight stays for family visits during the holidays. Specifically, hotels and guesthouses must be open from December 23 to January 1 for guests visiting family, three nights are allowed, CDU Finance Minister Harry Glawe said in the evening after a meeting of the state government with representatives of companies, municipalities and associations. .
Beauty salons in the Northeast may be allowed to reopen as early as December 5, if corona infection numbers are clearly down the day before. Six federal states are leaving
Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is not the first federal state to deviate from the latest federal-state agreement on pandemic control. North Rhine-Westphalia, Lower Saxony, Schleswig-Holstein, Hesse and Berlin have already announced that they will allow hotel stays for family visits during the festive period, contrary to a recommendation from the Chancellery. There it was said that these special permits could not be controlled. In other federal states, discussions on the issue were still ongoing.
All five countries argue that hotel stays of relatives around Christmas are non-tourist stays, as they are also allowed during partial closure until December 20. On the contrary, the head of the Chancellery, Helge Braun, had already rejected overnight stays in hotels during Christmas one day after the summit.
