Jens Spahn explains the strategy in the current situation of the crown

The number of new infections in Germany has increased significantly recently. How does politics react to this and what does that mean for the individual? Health Minister Spahn answers questions about this.

Fever Clinics, New Quarantine Regulation, and Clubs Closed – Jens Spahn Explains Fall and Winter Strategy Regarding Rising Corona Cases. He is particularly concerned about developments in neighboring countries.

AIn view of the increase in Corona’s figures in Germany, Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) explained the federal government’s strategy for the fall and winter. This should include rapid antigen testing, also to be able to screen visitors to on-site care facilities and avoid infection there. At the moment, despite the development, the health care situation is well under control, Spahn said.

In addition, according to the Minister of Health, specialized clinics and fever clinics will be established. The goal is to keep people with respiratory illnesses and symptoms away from other patients and thus avoid infection. These measures, along with a new quarantine regulation, should be applied from mid-October, according to Spahn.

To assess the situation, it is not always enough to look at the number of infections, Spahn said. It is also important to observe the dynamics and how the health system is managing it. Today, the health system can handle the highest number of infections. “But the dynamism in Europe and especially in our neighboring countries is worrying,” he sums up. There is no direct neighboring country “that does not have a multiple of our number of infections in relation to the size of the population.” This also leads to entries into Germany.

Several neighboring countries posted highs over the weekend

Several countries in Germany recently recorded record levels of new infections: in France, more than 10,000 new infections were reported on Sunday; the day before, a maximum of 13,498 corona cases was reached in 24 hours. In the Netherlands, the number of new infections each day has passed the 2000 threshold for the first time since the outbreak of the pandemic.

Authorities in Denmark and Poland also recorded the highest daily value of new infections since the start of the pandemic on Saturday. With 2,046 new infections, the Czech Republic registered slightly fewer cases than the previous one, but at the same time a maximum value for weekends when fewer tests are usually carried out. If the significant increase in infections continues, the Czech government, Health Minister Adam Vojtech, could declare a state of emergency. In Madrid, the increasing number of new infections has already led to new restrictions: several quarters have been partially sealed.

In the case of Germany, Spahn continued to reject new opening measures, for example by clubs, as these same places often become sources of infection. Regarding the Corona Munich hotspot, Spahn showed understanding for the measures introduced and emphasized again how important it is to wear a mask for your own protection, but above all for the protection of other people. It calls on people to reconsider Oktoberfest replacement parties in this pandemic year. “Celebrating together in a small space makes things easier for this virus.”
