Difficult large-scale operation for the fire department in Hamburg-Stellingen: there was a fire in the production hall of a car supplier on Friday morning.
A machine caught fire in the building. Since solvents and plastics are also stored in the house for more than 100 years directly at the Eidelstedt S-Bahn station, extreme heat developed in the hallway. About 75 firefighters were on duty and brought the fire under control at noon.
Development of dense smoke
Meanwhile, due to heavy smoke, firefighters had asked residents to keep windows and doors closed. The Eidelstedt, Lurup and Niendorf regions, as well as in Schleswig-Holstein Halstenbek and Krupunder, were affected. It smelled unpleasant, but the smoke was not dangerous to health, a fire department spokesman said. The smoke was also quickly removed by the strong wind.
Two wounded
Several dozen of the company’s employees could have safely left the premises. Two people were slightly injured, the extinction work should drag on for a long time.
Train traffic disrupted
S-Bahn traffic on lines S3 and S21 between Altona and Elbgaustraße was stopped and replacement traffic with buses and taxis was installed. The AKN and long-distance traffic between Hamburg and Kiel or Westerland (Sylt) were also disrupted, a railroad spokeswoman said.
