Fabian Klos on the start of the season, Bayern duel, Robert Lewandowski

Arminia Bielefeld returned to the German House of Lords this summer after an eleven-year absence.

For many Arminia players, it is the first Bundesliga season of their careers. The same goes for striker Fabian Klos.

Before the “highlight game” against FC Bayern, Klos speaks SPORT1 about the start of the season, the duel with the record champion, Robert Lewandowski and the difference between the first and second division.

SPORT1: Mr. Klos, what is your first little intermediate conclusion after three Bundesliga games?

Florian Klos: Good overall. We can be satisfied. Apart from the result in Bremen, which did not seem right to us, we have had a very reasonable start.

SPORT1: Did you see that the Arminia can keep up?

Klos: Definitely in all three games. But the season lasts a little over three games. We will be able to draw the first small intermediate conclusion in winter, during the non-existent winter holidays, at least after the first half of the season. So let’s see where we are.

The Bundesliga impresses with its intelligence

SPORT1: What is the biggest difference between the first and second divisions?

Klos: The physical requirements in the first division are slightly higher than in the second division. We had to improve a little physically. We did too. However, the difference is not that great. The biggest difference is the intelligence and class of individual players of the opponent. But I am happy with the team. We managed to do quite well in the last two games.

SPORT1: How are you doing in League 1? There are a lot of forwards who only work in one league. Do you have an explanation for this?

Klos: After three games, it is definitely too early to draw conclusions. Of course, a forward likes to score early in the season. But in recent years, regardless of the league, I have not managed to score goal after goal from the front. There I do not worry. I still have a few games to show that I can score in the Bundesliga.

Arminia expects a duel with FC Bayern

SPORT1: What is the difference between defenders?

Klos: It is definitely another level physically. Makoto Hasebe, for example, is far superior to me when it comes to intelligence, even at the age of 32. I can definitely still learn something there.

SPORT1: At the weekend he will meet Bayern. How is the mood for one of the highlights of this season?

Klos: Relaxed and full of anticipation. We are not going to enter the game as the big favorites and we are not going to win big either. (smile). But we look forward to it. We worked very hard for a year last season and a year and a half before to be able to play a game like this. We approach it with the utmost respect, but fear is also the wrong partner.

Finding weaknesses at Bayern is not easy

SPORT1: Have you seen any weaknesses in recent Bayern games or do you expect Bayern to be overworked due to their two-day pace?

Klos: He’s hit sensibly again in the transfer market, so the risk of review is now not that great. I didn’t see many weaknesses, but I saw an incredible amount of strengths. They already know very well where the goal is and they score relatively regularly. It won’t be easy to avoid it, but we will do our best.

Arminia changes the game against Bayern

SPORT1: Does Arminia have to change the game against Bayern?

Klos: Of course we have to change our game against Bayern. It would be fatal to try to boost your game against the best teams in the league. Then you run straight against the wall and then you fill your ass. We absolutely want to avoid it.

SPORT1: Bayern may have the best striker in the world in Robert Lewandowski …

Klos: Maybe you can cancel that. Bayern have the strongest striker in the world, in my opinion.

Lewandowski is the best striker in the world

SPORT1: What else can you learn from him?

Klos: I can learn everything. Robert Lewandowski definitely has no weaknesses. Robert Lewandowski has no physical, physical, technical or final weaknesses. I’m surprised he didn’t get a 99 on FIFA.

SPORT1: Is Lewandowski your favorite forward?

Klos: Unfortunately, there are relatively few classic center forwards these days. But if you could build one, it would probably look like this. I don’t want to degenerate into idolatry either, but for me there are no two opinions that this guy is the best forward in the Bundesliga, in Europe and in the world. It will certainly be a lot of fun for our defenses to try to keep him busy.

Result against Bayern secondary

SPORT1: What result could you live with? Or the performance against Munich cannot be based on the result?

At MAGENTA SPORT you can experience all the Bundesliga Sky conferences live and highlights on demand! | MONITOR

Klos: No, I wouldn’t fix that for the result, especially against a team like that. It depends on how we are going to play, how brave and aggressive the team is. That is much more important. If we can sit in the locker room after the game and say that we gave everything and tried everything, then for me personally and for many others the result is secondary. Of course, no athlete likes to lose, not even against Bayern, but we all know it will be a gigantic task.
