Exception for “good reasons”
Southwest imposed overnight curfew

It becomes silent at night on the streets of Mannheim, Pforzheim or Heilbronn. Since they are one of the crown hot spots in Baden-Württemberg, an exit restriction will apply in the future which can only be circumvented with a valid reason. There should also be police checkpoints.

In the crown hot spots in Baden-Württemberg, citizens will only be able to leave the house at night for good reason. The state government has agreed to night-out restrictions in circles with more than 200 new infections per 100,000 residents in a week, as announced by the State Ministry. The Ministry of Social Affairs wants to regulate the details in a decree. Exceptions apply, for example to medical or work emergencies. The decree should also regulate other restrictions in hotspot areas, such as a ban on events.

In Mannheim, Pforzheim, Heilbronn and three other districts, the so-called seven-day incidence, that is, the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in a week, is currently above the 200 mark.

Mannheim Mayor Peter Kurz of the SPD had previously announced night-time exit restrictions for his city due to the increasing number of corona infections. These should go into effect Friday night and apply for eight days between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.

To get out of the house, then you need “good reasons”, which you must be able to make credible during an inspection. According to Kurz, this includes professional activities. Police are planning mobile and fixed checkpoints in Mannheim. The forces would be “massively reinforced” for the controls.

Nighttime curfews have already imposed several European cities during the crisis, including Paris in October. Here, the population always had to carry with them a form explaining why the house was abandoned despite the curfew.
