Essen: 16-year-old is said to have seriously abused homeless people

A 16-year-old is said to have abused a homeless disabled person near Essen’s main train station with a series of kicks to the body and head.

According to federal police, the 48-year-old man was attacked early on Christmas morning after he lay down next to his wheelchair and fell asleep.

Video recordings in this area show that the 16-year-old kicked the victim 16 times in the body and head with an interruption of several minutes, the Federal Police announced on Saturday.

A 14-year-old colleague of the youth is said to have stood by nonchalantly and watched the outbreak of violence. The 16-year-old from Essen is said to have threatened the victim with a knife and indicated a stabbing motion to the stomach.

The victim arrived at the hospital after hours.

A federal police spokesman said the 48-year-old had crawled into his wheelchair and was likely afraid of further abuse.

About two hours after the fact, railroad employees noticed the man bleeding from his face and complaining of pain all over his body. Rescuers took the injured to a hospital.

The youths are already known to emergency services for numerous crimes at Essen main station, federal police said. You will be questioned by the authorities in the next few days.
