Endgame for the Nord Stream 2 pipeline

A new Congressional bill on the defense budget now stipulates that there should be no sanctions against governments like Germany that allow Nord Stream 2.

The draft, on which the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies have agreed, also makes it clear that companies can only be sanctioned if the responsible governments have been previously consulted. From the point of view of Nord Stream 2 fans, both changes are a step in the right direction. On Friday, it was said that suspended laying work on the pipeline system would soon resume.
