Tesla boss Elon Musk is expected to be on the sidelines of the meeting of the Union faction leaders in Berlin on Wednesday. According to information from SPIEGEL, Musk’s visit is scheduled to begin at 2 pm Group leader Ralph Brinkhaus (CDU) did not want to explicitly confirm the visit at first, but said to the corresponding question: “That could be it.” A meeting between Musk and Economy Minister Peter Altmaier (CDU) was also planned on the sidelines of the retreat.

Brinkhaus referred to a Tesla Grohmann Automation machine for fully automated vaccine production, which was installed in the lobby of the cloister building. According to reports, a photo opportunity between the group’s leaders and Musk could take place there in the afternoon. “Let’s see what happens during the day,” Brinkhaus said. Musk visited the biotech company Curevac, which is working on a Covid-19 vaccine, in Tübingen on Tuesday.

Working with Curevac isn’t Musk’s only concern. According to information from SPIEGEL, talks on the sidelines of the closed conference should also seek to have Tesla benefit from the European battery promotion program. To do this, Musk would also have to do research on the new Grünheide site. Musk could also receive investment aid for the production of electric cars. But even in this case it would be linked to the obligation to create innovations in Germany or in another European location, be it in battery production, technology or recycling, for example.

Musk announced on Twitter Sunday night that he would be coming to Germany to work with Curevac and build the electric car factory in Grünheide, near Berlin. Curevac considers himself a beacon of hope in the search for a corona vaccine. The EU Commission had already obtained up to 405 million doses of a vaccine from the Tübingen company.
