Two weeks before the US presidential election, incumbent Donald Trump prematurely canceled a television interview. CBS television station announced Tuesday night (local time). Trump threatened on Twitter to post a recording himself before the scheduled air date next Sunday.

He criticized the conversation with renowned journalist Lesley Stahl for the CBS show “60 Minutes” as “false” and “biased.” Before the election, the interview should be part of a “60 Minutes” special on Republican Trump and his Democratic challenger Joe Biden this Sunday.

Trump spoke of “terrible interference” in the November 3 election. During a campaign appearance Tuesday night in Erie, Pennsylvania, he appeared to threaten CBS. “You have to look at what we do with ’60 Minutes’. You will have a lot of fun,” said the president in front of his followers. “Lesley Stahl won’t be happy about it.”

Trump had previously posted a short video on Twitter about which he wrote: “’60 Minutes’ Lesley Stahl without a mask in the White House after her interview with me. There is much more to come.”

CBS broadcaster later told Forbes magazine that Trump’s actions broke a deal that was made for the recording of the interview. Consequently, the White House was only allowed to record the interview for archival purposes.

Trump, who contracted Covid-19 himself earlier in the month, almost never wears mouth and nose protection. Furthermore, he has repeatedly made false verifiable statements about face masks and the coronavirus. The president of the United States describes the media that criticize him as “enemies of the people” and his reports as “fake news.” He regularly accuses the American media of not tackling Biden as strongly as he does.
