Donald Trump has been the acting president of the United States for just over two weeks. Apparently, he still did not accept his defeat. After an explosive phone call to Georgia’s Secretary of the Interior Brad Raffensperger, Democrats want to launch FBI investigations into the outgoing US president.
Trump’s call to Raffensperger contained calls for violations of electoral laws, Congressmen Ted Lieu and Kathleen Rice argued in a letter to the FBI Chief of the United States Federal Police, Christopher Wray.
A recording of the hour-long conversation was published on Sunday in the Washington Post. Trump said, among other things, that he wanted 11,780 votes found for the state to go to him. “I can’t have lost Georgia.” Democrats Lieu and Rice emphasized: “The evidence of Trump’s electoral fraud has come to light.” A Democrat on Georgia’s election commission, David Worley, also called for a Fake investigation.
The election result has not yet been confirmed by Congress
Democrat Joe Biden won in Georgia in the November 3 election by just under 12,000 votes. As in other states, Trump’s side spoke of electoral fraud, but was unable to present any evidence of it. The results were counted twice in Georgia, the end result changed only slightly. Raffensperger reiterated that no evidence of widespread voter fraud had been discovered.
Before Biden’s inauguration on January 20, the results of the individual states will be certified in the US Congress on Wednesday. Some Republicans in the House and Senate have announced that they will appeal the results of individual states during the proceedings. Disruptive action may delay confirmation of Biden’s election victory by a few hours, but it has no prospect of changing anything in the election outcome.
