In Sunday’s interview, Trump announced treating Covid with a cocktail of experimental antibodies from the biotech company Regeneron that he had received at the hospital. The drug is not a treatment method, but a “cure” and a “miracle” that should soon be available to everyone, he said.
Antibody cocktails developed by various manufacturers have yet to be approved and will only be available in relatively small quantities for the foreseeable future. Critics accuse Trump of promoting the drug as a miracle weapon to distract attention from his administration’s failure to contain the coronavirus pandemic in the United States ahead of the Nov.3 election.
