Cologne / Frankfurt –

In the first step of the licensing procedure for the 2020/21 season in the Bundesliga and the second division, the German Football League (DFL) did not deny any of the 49 applicants the right to play. The most recent exemptions decided by the general assembly due to the coronavirus pandemic were taken into account.

Among other things, the clubs did not verify their liquidity in the licensing process, as the interruption of game operations due to the crown crisis poses serious problems for many clubs. The final decision on granting the licenses must be made no later than the second half of June.

DFL: some clubs must meet certain conditions

Until then, however, some clubs must “meet the conditions to be eligible to play in the event of a sports qualification,” while others “have obtained the license subject to conditions.” One of these clubs is the SC Paderborn Bundesliga Fund. Media infrastructure and technology requirements must be met there.

According to the DFL, the financial aspect will be verified again next season, the documents must be submitted before September 15. (ach / ars / dpa)
