With hurricane gusts, especially off the North Sea coast, Storm “Hermine” hit Schleswig-Holstein on Sunday. For the most part, however, it remained in the country with minor damage.

Overturned trees, broken branches, broken construction signs or fences: Low storm “Hermine” caused minor damage Sunday. According to the country’s emergency services, traffic was hardly hampered by the consequences of the storm. They counted a little over 100 missions throughout Sunday.

The North Sea coast was particularly affected

The fire brigade had a lot to do, especially on the North Sea coast. In Büsum (Dithmarschen district), for example, a 150 square meter roof came loose and was caught between the trees.

There were no injuries, also because, according to a police spokesperson, only a few people were around. Ferries from Cuxhaven to Helgoland stopped operating due to the low storm, and on the Syltshuttle, cars with trailers or camping vehicles were taboo.
