On Thursday, three trucks collided on the A2 near Lehrte (Hannover region). One of them was loaded with radioactive material.
Around 140,000 euros in damages
The driver of a 40-year-old semi-trailer truck apparently had to stop in slow traffic. A 50-year-old man driving behind him stopped in time. However, the 23-year-old driver of a later semi-trailer was unable to brake in time, so he drove his vehicle towards the 50-year-old semi-trailer and pushed it into the truck in front of him. The 40-year-old driver and the 23-year-old were slightly injured. Due to the radioactive load, the radiation protection professional fire brigade in Hannover started to measure the radiation values. The highway had to be temporarily closed for this. The damages are estimated at around 140,000 euros.
