Customs conducted raids in several cities against about 50 suspects on Wednesday morning. It involved suspicions of non-payment of wages, tax evasion and commercial aid to other crimes, the authority said in the morning.
The focus is on Frankfurt am Main, but Hamburg and Munich are also said to be affected. At first there was no confirmation for the Hamburg and Munich missions.
In total there should be around 100 search warrants. According to a customs official, six suspects were detained. The defendants are between 32 and 48 years old.
Damages in the millions
