The deliberations of the state government of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern with the municipalities and associations on the new Corona regulation are ongoing. The Corona summit had to be unexpectedly interrupted on Wednesday afternoon.

The reason was a crown case at the state chancery. An employee tested positive for the corona virus. He was also in contact with a high-ranking official close to Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD).

More tips by phone

The summit with municipalities and coordinating organizations in Schwerin, which was supposed to advise on stricter measures, then continued by phone. Prime Minister Schwesig went home immediately. He continued his work there, according to a government spokesman. According to his information, Schwesig was in contact with three people who had connections to the infected person. The consequences of the Corona case at the managerial level of the State Chancellery are currently open. According to the spokesperson, a total of six employees must undergo tests. It is unclear when the results will be announced. Above all, the group wanted to advise on how to treat corona risk areas. Alcohol bans, restaurant curfews and contact restrictions are being debated.

At the moment, there is no corona test on the part of vacationers.

The second surprise came in the afternoon of Greifswald: the High Administrative Court has granted the regulation for vacationers from risk areas, they do not have to present a negative corona test when entering the country. The state government had already announced last Saturday that the state would in the future waive the two-week quarantine obligation for guests staying in these regions. In the future, you will only need to carry the negative corona test with you. In response to a lawsuit by two hoteliers, the judges also reversed this restriction. It is not understandable why vacationers from risky areas have to bring this proof, travelers, school children, students and others for whom the state government has set exceptions, but not. In any event, the government did not provide “any objective reason” for this in its ordinance. This means that the restrictions for vacationers are completely off the table for now. It is questionable whether the state government will leave it that way or try to improve it and justify the restriction.
