Crown regulations: court overturns Berlin curfew

The curfew in Berlin went into effect last weekend. Now the administrative court of the capital has revoked it again. So said a court spokesman for the German press agency on Friday.

In the context of significantly higher numbers of infections, the Senate decided that restaurants, bars, pubs, and most stores should close between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. in the future. The new regulation came into effect last weekend. Several restaurateurs had filed urgent requests against the regulation.

According to lawyer Niko Härting, a total of around a dozen bars and clubs in Berlin had opposed the curfew. They criticized the measure as disproportionate.

From their point of view, there is no compelling reason for restaurants to close at 11 p.m. With a gastronomy curfew, young people would later gather in other places for which hygiene concepts do not apply, hence the argumentation.

Bavaria is based on the resolutions of the federal states

In Bavaria, however, the controversial accommodation ban for travelers from Corona hotspots expires on Friday. The state government waived an extension of the rule, “we left it at that,” State Chancellor Florian Herrmann (CSU) told the German press agency in Munich on Friday. The lodging ban ends at the end of the day. As justification, Herrmann said they are counting on states to implement the resolutions of this week’s federal-state agreement.
