With a view to the “lateral thinking” movement, NRW Interior Minister Herbert Reul calls for a reform of the section on breaking the peace. Reul also sees demonstration organizers as an obligation.

Despite the increasing number of infections, the “lateral thinking” movement in Dresden and Frankfurt wanted to demonstrate on Saturday. Organizers resisted city bans. Now they have ruled before the Federal Constitutional Court.

reThe Federal Constitutional Court of Karlsruhe confirmed the ban on the demonstration of “lateral thinking” on Saturday in Dresden. “The urgent request was rejected,” said a spokesman for the German press agency. In this case, all legal means have been exhausted and the event is finally prohibited. In the morning, the plaintiff filed a constitutional complaint against the ban on demonstrations against crown policy, which had previously been upheld by the Dresden Administrative Court and the Higher Administrative Court of Saxony (OVG) Bautzen.

According to the police, emergency services were present throughout the city for fear of spontaneous prohibited demonstrations. A helicopter was also used to transmit live images to the police headquarters. A dreaded avalanche of protesters did not occur until midday on Saturday. The police returned potential participants and those who had traveled. The inmates were not allowed to leave their bus at the planned rally location east of the city, a police spokesman said. The bus was returned to the highway.

26 people, recognizable on the soccer scene, turned aggressive at the main station when federal police checked the crown’s rules. They arrived in custody. Originally a rally for 4,000 people was registered, for which it was publicized domestically and abroad, also in the scene on the right. The Dresden Public Order Office had banned the demonstration of lateral thinking because, based on experience, the distance requirements were not observed there and the mask requirement was not observed. Furthermore, all requests from the police would be completely ignored.

The Federal Constitutional Court also rejected an urgent request for a demonstration against Corona’s measures in Frankfurt on Saturday. The Hessian Administrative Court in Kassel had previously confirmed the city’s ban on the demonstration of “lateral thinkers”. The judges justified their decision with the high risk of contagion. In view of the expected number of participants of around 40,000 protesters, it is unclear how the required minimum distances in the city center can be maintained.

Also, on the Saturday before the third Advent, “you can expect a large number of passersby to do their Christmas shopping.” The applicant had not presented a viable hygiene concept for its meetings and rejected alternative locations offered by the city of Frankfurt. The highest administrative court in Hesse followed the decision of the Frankfurt administrative court to ban the city. In Frankfurt, however, there were several smaller gatherings of supporters of the “lateral thinking” initiative on Saturday.
