In Saxony-Anhalt, police forces went out on Saturday to find a crocodile in the Unstrut river. The great search continues despite its failure: there is now a bathroom ban.

A bathing ban has been issued in the Burgenland district of Saxony-Anhalt due to possibly a crocodile swimming in the spoil. The ban will initially apply until Sept. 6, said Burgenland district district manager Götz Ulrich in Naumburg. According to this, no one is allowed to enter the river between the state border with Thuringia near Wendelstein and the confluence with the Saale at the flower reason near Naumburg.

Emergency services have been searching for a live crocodile in the small river in southern Saxony-Anhalt since Friday morning.. Previously, there were two eyewitness references claiming to have seen a reptile near the town of Laucha an der Unstrut. Police took the reports seriously. The Trösdorf and Wetzendorf locks were temporarily closed. So far, the search for the reptile has been unsuccessful, as a police spokeswoman said Sunday morning.
