Criticism of the federal government before vaccination begins
Lindner: Germany is poorly prepared
Preparations for corona vaccines are in full swing in Germany. From this Sunday the vaccination must be carried out. But according to the leader of the FDP, Christian Linder, “there is still a lot to do” to make the vaccination campaign work as planned. The federal government has not created a clear legal basis.
Immediately before the start of the corona vaccines, FDP President Christian Lindner sees room for improvement. “We are not adequately prepared for vaccination,” he said. The FDP would have liked to have a clear legal basis for this, because such important life and death issues should be decided broadly. “In terms of logistics, we need to use the resident medical area as soon as possible in addition to the vaccination centers, so that we can move quickly with vaccination.”
“But the third most important requirement is, of course, that we get a sufficient number of doses of vaccine,” emphasized the chairman of Free Democrats. Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn made promises here. But: “There is still much to do so that this can also be practically guaranteed. The objective in terms of supply and logistics must be to be able to vaccinate a sufficiently large sector of the population that wants it for themselves as soon as possible. That is a key also to normalize life even more. “
Lindner advocated for an “acceptance and information campaign” so that people could decide on the basis of scientific information whether or not they wanted to be vaccinated voluntarily. “Anyway, I’ll get vaccinated as soon as it’s my turn.” However, he fully understands that, according to the established priorities, his turn is later than, for example, medical professionals or the elderly.
Lindner appealed to the federal government not to allow lockout time to go unused. After this emergency brake, a new strategy must be established that, together with an improved Corona warning application, better balances health protection with freedom in all areas, acting regionally more consistently than before, and on the other hand, a very effective protection for vulnerable groups. organized.”
