reThe administrative court of Baden-Wuerttemberg granted an urgent request against the accommodation ban in the state with a decision on Thursday. So far, this applies to guests in German regions where 50 or more new cases of corona were recorded per 100,000 inhabitants in 7 days. The applicants come from the Recklinghausen district in North Rhine-Westphalia, which is above this mark. He had booked a vacation in the Ravensburg district.
The accommodation ban is temporarily suspended in Baden-Württemberg with immediate effect, as the court announced Thursday in Mannheim. However, appeals can still be filed.
The court considered the reduction of the fundamental right to freedom of movement disproportionate. The country also failed to prove that hotels and pensions are the “drivers” of the infection, so drastic measures are necessary. It is also unreasonable for applicants to submit negative corona tests conducted up to 48 hours prior to arrival. There was no guarantee that travelers would be able to get a corona test in such a short time.
More recently, the number of new infections reported daily in Germany increased significantly. A previous record was reached on Thursday. According to the Robert Koch Institute, health authorities reported 6,638 new infections Thursday morning, about 1,500 more than on Wednesday. So far, the number was the highest at the end of March with nearly 6,300 new infections. However, the current values cannot be compared with those of the spring, because now many more tests are being carried out and therefore more infections are being discovered.
According to the RKI, at least 341,223 people in Germany have been shown to have been infected with the Sars-CoV-2 virus since the beginning of the Corona crisis. Therefore, the number of deaths related to a corona infection was 9,710. That was 33 more than the day before. There are around 284,600 recovered.
