After the increase of 4,284 more confirmed infections, the number of cases previously detected in the country rose to 206,387, as announced this Friday by the state health office (as of 4 pm). 145,130 people in Baden-Württemberg are considered to have recovered. The seven-day value of new infections per 100,000 residents is currently 199.1 for the entire country after 193.7 on Thursday.

Most intensive care beds in Baden-Württemberg are occupied

According to data from the intensive care registry Divi, 568 patients are currently in intensive care treatment, as stated. Of these, 318 (55.9 percent) are artificially ventilated. A total of 2,145 of the 2,447 usable intensive care beds (87.65 percent) are occupied. In some cases, intensive care patients are being transferred to other clinics to avoid overcrowded rooms.

The number of extreme hotspots in the country is increasing

19 of the 44 rural and urban districts of Baden-Württemberg have a seven-day incidence value of more than 200. Six are even more than 300 and are therefore considered extreme hotspots: Calw (316), Lörrach (303.4), Neckar-Odenwald (334.9), Heilbronn District (362.6), Mannheim (306.1) and Pforzheim (318.4). Rottweil is just below the threshold of 300 with an incidence of 299.5.

Many infections in the elderly and nursing homes since the beginning of the pandemic

According to the State Health Office, the proportion of those infected since the start of the pandemic who are over 60 years old is 23 percent and the proportion of children and adolescents (0-19 years) is 13 percent. Since November 16, there have been a total of 155 outbreaks in nursing homes with 2,652 SARS-CoV-2 infections. 232 infected people died.
