Study: School closures weaken career opportunities

The consequences of the crisis in the crown are not only burdensome for the present. They can have long-term sequelae. Research: digitization of health authorities delayed

For months, the federal government and the states failed to introduce standardized software for health authorities. This is demonstrated by the investigations of NDR, WDR and “Süddeutscher Zeitung” (SZ). Corona infections cannot be uniformly recorded across the 400 or so health authorities to date, and contact tracking is delayed and difficult. It was only at the Corona summit on November 16 that the federal and state governments agreed to use the SORMAS platform of the largely state-funded Helmholtz Institute on 90 percent of German health authorities by the end of the year. This should allow the contact chains to be tracked automatically. Testing laboratories, offices and the Robert Koch Institute must be networked and citizens must also have the opportunity to communicate with health authorities. Research shows that this embedded software would have been ready for use in a simplified form as early as spring.

Lower Saxony: more than 760 crown procedures

According to a newspaper report, the administrative courts of Lower Saxony have already registered more than 760 procedures related to the crown. Justice Minister Barbara Havliza expects more lawsuits against the new regulation. “We have been plagued by this pandemic since March. It is no wonder that people’s patience is wearing thin,” said the CDU politician of the newspaper “Bild”. “The number of court cases will probably even increase.” She is very proud of how well the rule of law works even in crisis, the trustworthiness of the courts and the precision with which they review government actions and correct them if necessary, Havliza said. For next year, the minister announced an additional 16 posts for the Lower Saxony judiciary, mainly to deal with the crown crisis proceedings in the labor and insolvency courts.

Corona crisis exacerbates the situation of patients with leukemia

The consequences of the corona pandemic make it difficult to find stem cell donors for people with leukemia. In Lower Saxony alone, 47 people with blood cancer were “desperately waiting for a suitable donor for their life-saving stem cell transplant,” said the manager of the Northern Marrow and Stem Cell Donor Registry (NKR). Germany, Marlena Robin-Winn. Nationwide, there are 1,184 patients. However, in the pandemic with its restrictions, public typing campaigns have become impossible. There have been no campaigns since March, so try to motivate people through social media. You can also go to the NKR website register as a potential donor. Many held back, did not want to go to the hospital to type, but the typing team would be sent home, he said. Among the 47 patients with blood cancer there are five children from six weeks. Many of those affected had been waiting for their transplant for more than a year, some as long as two years. “The crisis in the crown made things worse,” said Robin-Winn. The NKR, which was founded in 1996, claims to be North Germany’s largest registry of typed stem cell donors and operates throughout the country.

Lower Saxony: “School Access Point Strategy” presented

Lower Saxony Education Minister Grant Hendrik Tonne wants to present his “School Hotspot Strategy” in Hannover this morning. Allowing school education at critical points in the crown while ensuring protection against infection is a difficult balancing act, the ministry announced ahead of time. Therefore, it has supplemented the corona measures, especially for regions with dynamic infection rates, in order to ensure sustainable education and health protection here too. The Cloppenburg district, for example, wants to extend the so-called scenario B in schools until the Christmas holidays, according to NDR 1 Lower Saxony due to the persistently high number of infections. In this model, classes are divided and held at home or at school on a weekly basis.
