Tschentscher: The accommodation ban has only limited effect

According to the first mayor of Hamburg, Peter Tschentscher (SPD), the effect of the accommodation ban in the fight against the coronavirus is limited: “We are doing it, but we are not dealing a decisive blow to the pandemic,” he said in an interview. to “Spiegel”. He referred to Easter when Schleswig-Holstein imposed an entry ban for tourists, hikers and second home owners: “The Pinnebergers, Neumünsteraners and Ostholsteiner, however, happily huddled around the Alster. How can that be avoided? border “. Blocking travelers in Hamburg would amount to a blockade “which we are currently trying to avoid”. Tschentscher also defended the city of Berlin from criticism: “Anyone who has a suggestion on how to do better than Berlin should name it.” Attacking individual cities or countries does not help.

New rules for travelers in risk areas in MV

Due to the sharp increase in the crown number, even in Berlin, the state government of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has changed the crown regulations in an urgent procedure. Consequently, those who work in regions that have been declared risk zones due to the increase in new infections can continue to work there without restrictions. The Interior Minister, Lorenz Caffier (CDU), announced it late at night after an extraordinary cabinet meeting that was organized on short notice. This is intended to limit the negative consequences of the recent increase in infections, especially for travelers and employees in the transport sector. Shopping trips and tourist visits in risk areas are not included in the new regulations. Such trips would still result in a 14-day quarantine, Caffier said. The comparatively strict entry restrictions for tourists to Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania have not been relaxed. The new regulations went into effect immediately. The deciding factor for the evening minister change conference was that in Berlin on Thursday the number of new infections reported per 100,000 residents had risen to 52.8 for the entire city in the past seven days. The 50 mark is a key criterion for assessing the status of the crown.

Today the new Lower Saxony Crown regulation enters into force

Apply from today new crown rules in Lower Saxony. For example, only a maximum of 25 people can gather for celebrations in private rooms. The upper limit of 50 people applies outdoors. So far there have been no regulations for private parties in Lower Saxony. On the other hand, there is relaxation for meetings in restaurants and other public access rooms with a hygiene concept. Up to 100 visitors are allowed here and the above restriction no longer applies on special occasions. Cinemas, theaters and other cultural institutions must be able to make better use of their space with good ventilation systems and careful hygiene measures. Apart from the applicable hygiene and distance regulations, there are no longer any restrictions on church and religious activities. There is no limit to the number of people at funerals. Services can take place outdoors, even if there is not a seat available for all visitors.
