Federal Interior Minister Horst Seehofer cautions against waiting until after Christmas with a lockdown on the fight against the corona virus. “The only chance to regain control of the situation is a shutdown, but it has to happen immediately,” the CSU politician told SPIEGEL. “If we wait until Christmas, we will have to struggle with the high numbers for months.”
Seehofer was angry about the current situation. He was really angry, the minister said. The advantage that Germany fought for in the spring during the pandemic has been lost. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported both new highs in the number of new infections and the number of deaths from corona on Friday.
