Also on Sunday, Konstanz is characterized by demonstrations for and against the crown policy. In one of the first events there were already disputes between the police and the commissioners.

The “lateral thinking” initiative continued its protest against the federal government’s crown policy with a church service on Sunday morning in Konstanz. The event program at a festival site near the Swiss border included speeches and live music.

Almost none of the visitors covered their mouths and noses, but the safety distance was largely maintained. Initially there were disputes because the commissioners appointed by the organizers refused to wear masks. The police did not want to recognize his certificates for an exemption from the mask requirement. The organizers eventually released the commissioners who wanted to continue to oppose the measure.

The initiator of “lateral thinking 711” is expected Michael Ballweg

The “lateral thinking” initiative, which criticizes or rejects the crown’s prevention policy and associated restrictions, has registered several campaigns for Sunday. These include a train through the city under the motto “Coronoia 2020 – We rise today!” and demonstrations at the “Little Venice” site and in the city garden. Stuttgart-based “lateral thinking” initiator Michael Ballweg is expected to participate as a speaker at the event in “Little Venice”.

Twelve events logged

The biggest counter-event is held throughout the day under the motto “Think outside the box? No thanks!” on the site of “Little Venice”. Twelve meetings are recorded for Sunday in Constance.

The conditions of the city of Konstanz for registered demonstrations are strict. Imperial war flags, imperial flags and symbols that have a clear reference to the crimes of National Socialism and make a connection to the current corona pandemic are not allowed. The city of Konstanz and the police appeal to the participants of the events to adhere to the hygiene rules of the Crown regulation.

Human chain and counter-demonstrations on Saturday

Already on Saturday thousands of people demonstrated in Lake Constance in favor and against Corona’s policy, according to the police, peacefully. With a so-called “chain of peace”, the “lateral thinking” initiative mobilized more than 10,000 people along the German shore of Lake Constance alone, according to the responsible police headquarters.

Gerry Mayr, co-organizer of Constance, expressed his satisfaction, but had expected up to 250,000 participants in advance. Initially there were no numbers from the organizers. A good dozen protests took place in Konstanz on Saturday, most against Corona’s critics. Due to the initial rain, fewer people came than expected.

The counter-protesters accused the “lateral thinkers” of conveying far-right ideas. Among other things, the antisemitism commissioner of the state government of Baden-Württemberg, Michael Blume, turned against conspiracy myths surrounding the policy of the crown in Konstanz.
