Garmisch-Partenkirchen is currently experiencing a violent crown outbreak. Apparently a tourist from the USA is to blame for this. The 26-year-old is said to have toured several bars despite her infection.
reThe violent crown outbreak in Garmisch-Partenkirchen is said to be caused by an American tourist. The young woman is said to have been to several locations, although she had symptoms, as district office spokesman Stephan Scharf said on Saturday. She would be one of the so-called super spreaders.
According to the district office, the 26-year-old entered Germany “at the beginning of September or the end of August” and is said to have been away from home for several days in the nightlife of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. It was not yet clear if he brought the virus with him from the US and possibly ignored quarantine rules.
According to Scharf, 23 people have so far tested positive for accommodation at the US military facility, where he had been staying. Overall, the number of new infections was 33 in one day. The seven-day incidence was 54 and thus above the critical mark of 50 new infections per 100,000 population in seven days.
Authorities expect the numbers to continue to rise
“From a medical point of view, a significant increase in infections can be expected in the district,” the district office said, imposing restrictions on public life in the commercial city of about 26,000 residents on Friday. “We want to end the nightlife that triggered it.”
All restaurants must close by 10 pm Only a maximum of five people can meet in the public space; this also applies to all restaurants. For private events the number of participants is limited to a maximum of 50 people in closed rooms or up to 100 people outdoors.
Because not all contact persons have been traced so far, health authorities are asking those who were in local bars tonight or earlier to contact the health department hotline (08821 / 751-500) and get tested.
Due to the high number of infections, the organizers canceled the “Ausbremst is” event scheduled for this Saturday. The demonstration of farmers in protest against the spread of wolves in Bavaria this Sunday is also due to the crown.
