Today vaccination against the SARS-Cov-2 coronavirus in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The first doses of the vaccine had already arrived on Saturday night.

In a care center in Güstrow, vaccination started in the morning. 58 seniors should be vaccinated today. “We started out cautiously and carefully,” said district spokesman Michael Fengler NDR 1 Radio MV. Almost 1,000 doses of vaccine had arrived at the Laage vaccination center early in the morning. Rostock also received around 1,000 cans. There is a first symbolic vaccination at the HanseMesse vaccination center. After that, three mobile teams are on the road, including at a facility in Lütten-Klein. Monday continues at the Schmarl vaccination center and at the university clinic. In the first step, hospice doctors and nurses, for example, need to be vaccinated. In the Ludwigslust Parchim district, vaccination is also scheduled to start during the day.

Almost 10,000 doses of vaccines reached MV

On Saturday a total of 9,750 doses of the Biontech and Pfizer vaccine were delivered to Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in two thermo boxes. The goal is to initially vaccinate people 80 years of age or older. According to the Ministry of Health, this applies to more than 127,000 people across the country. Vaccinations begin in the elderly and nursing homes. A total of 40 mobile vaccination teams will be traveling across the country today. The teams are supported by the Technical Relief Organization and the German Rescue Society. Employees in nursing homes, medical and nursing staff in clinic intensive care units should also be vaccinated early on, as should older people living at home. According to the Minister of Health, Harry Glawe (CDU), they will be written to them in the next few days and then vaccination appointments can be arranged.

President of the City Council: “The time has not yet come for mass vaccinations”

New doses of the vaccine are expected in the coming days, a total of around 20,000 for Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania by the end of the year. In the new year, almost 15,000 doses of vaccine will be delivered initially per week. The vaccine will be kept in a secret place. According to Federal Minister of Health Jens Spahn (CDU), Biontech can still deliver 1.3 million doses across the country this year. Spahn himself assumes initial problems at the beginning of vaccination and the German Association of Cities has discouraged expectations from the beginning. City Council Chairman Burkhard Jung told the newspapers of the Funke media group that it had started, but that the ghost with the dangerous corona virus was not over yet. The infection situation remains worrying today and the time for mass vaccination has not yet come.

Vaccination centers start operating in January

The vaccination centers in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania will be able to start operating in January. The state’s health minister, Glawe, assumes the vaccination will take about two minutes. Appointments at the centers should also be scheduled at this rate. First there is a shot for the basic immunization, then a second vaccine three weeks later. About two-thirds of Germans want to get vaccinated according to a recent opinion poll. According to previous surveys, the willingness to vaccinate is significantly lower.
