50.5 new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days: the city of Stuttgart exceeded the critical value of 50 on Saturday. OB Fritz Kuhn (Greens) had already explained what that means.
The city of Stuttgart exceeded the critical limit of 50 new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days. The seven-day incidence for the state capital is 50.5, as announced by the state health bureau on Saturday (as of 4 p.m.).
City spokesman Sven Matis also tweeted the numbers that night. “This is how the so-called intervention level (of 50) is applied,” was his summary.
Mask requirement announced within the city ring
In this case, the city would issue a mask requirement for public spaces in the city center, Mayor Fritz Kuhn (Greens) announced on Friday. Furthermore, the requirements for private celebrations should be stricter and the allowed number of participants should be reduced to more than half: private celebrations should be limited to 10 people, private celebrations in public spaces such as restaurants to 25 people. For certain school classes, a balanced start to school is sought to ease local public transportation. Kuhn called on the economy to become increasingly dependent on home offices. A ban on the night sale of alcohol is also under discussion.
On Friday, Kuhn and Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) and ten other people in charge of major German cities discussed measures similar to the new Stuttgart decisions. According to Kuhn, city leaders want to discuss again in two weeks.
